Rorke’s Drift Hotel, resting on the banks of the River Buffalo was recently refurbished in a contemporary African style, taking inspiration from the traditional Zulu architecture.

The wagon drift that gives the area its name is within the grounds of the hotel, and the Rorkes Drift attlefield is just a short walk away, where 11 Victoria Crosses were awarded. The dramatic field of Isandlwana that was fought on the same day is just a 15 minute drive down the road, and the poignant memorial at Fugitive’s Drift, 10 minutes downstream.
The hotel is perfectly situated with imposing views over Zululand and towards Isandlwana. Storytelling is offered from the deck, giving a glimpse into a life lived in a different time and place. The hotel offer a battlefield guiding service for visitors so you may join a group or have individual attention to meet your wishes, or book your own guide.
